骨折是骨頭超過其可以承受的壓力，造成骨的連續性受到破壞，產生斷裂情形，例如：車禍、跌倒等情況皆可能造成骨折。
治療方式有牽引法及復位法，復位法分為閉鎖性及開放性，閉鎖性為醫師利用手力的牽引復位，並且以石膏或外固定器給予固定；
開放性則以手術切開，利用金屬的內固定器維持骨頭的排列。
骨折病人應注意的事項有：
◆於受傷或手術後一周內應維持患肢的抬高，以利血液循 環，防止腫脹，但是，若有重接血管或血液循環不良或阻塞性疾病者之患肢應平放於床面上。
◆患肢應進行肌肉主動收縮運動，依體能狀況與醫師商談每小時進行約十分鐘的收縮運動。
◆當患肢以石膏固定時，若感覺患肢處及末梢肢體有麻木、緊縮、異常疼痛、壓迫、冰冷、膚色改變及石膏鬆脫或斷裂時，應立即告知醫護人員處理。
◆患肢傷口若出現發紅、腫脹、分泌物及發燒時，應立即告知醫護人員處理。
